     GCE Traditional Chinese Medicine Program

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is an ancient and still very vital holistic system of health and healing, based on the notion of harmony and balance, and employing the ideas of moderation and prevention.

TCM is a complete system of health-care with its own unique theories of anatomy, health, and treatment. It emphasizes diet, prevention, using acupuncture , herbal medicine, massage, and exercise ; and focuses on stimulating the body's natural curative powers.

Objectives

GCE's classes start with the study of the basic theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine followed by in-depth study of the following disciplines; Chinese Materia Medica, Acupunture, Moxibustion and Tuina, Health Preservation of TCM, Chinese Medicated Diet and Chinese Massage.

Course Features

Course Outline

GCE's unique course consists of four main components: 1) Chinese class time; 2) Supervised after-class training; 3) Exchange program featuring traditional medicine, Chinese language and culture; and 4) Optional extracurricular activities. Whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced student, GCE's courses have plenty to offer you. Each session lasts 45mins and above.

Classes are taught by some of China's most prominent doctors and professors in china. They are dedicated to providing expert guidance and training to students ranging from complete beginner to advanced students.

Classes are held at Beijing College for Chinese Language Studies,the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and Beijing University Health Science Center.

During the application process, prospective students should indicate which form of traditional medicine they wish to study. Professional instructors will first assess those requesting advanced levels.

Supervised After-Class Training

GCE's supervised after-class training sessions give students the opportunity to practice what they have learned in class. The optional training sessions are supervised by professionals.

Exchange Program (medicine, Chinese Language and Culture)

Students can pair up with Chinese students to exchange medicine tips, language and culture. Such exchange programs have sown the seeds of many lasting friendships. Students can meet at mutually convenient times.

Optional Extracurricular Activities

Through these free activities, students can further their knowledge of Chinese medicine disciplines as well as other aspects of China's fascinating culture.


Special Features

GCE's students are completely immersed in Chinese martial arts, culture and life. Here are some of the special features:

Shaolin Temple Weekend

Students taking part in a course lasting eight weeks or longer are invited on a tour of the Shaolin Temple in the Songshan Mountains of Henan(home of KungFu).

Activities with Native Chinese Speakers

These include activities like sports (basketball, bowling, etc) and social activities (karaoke competitions, games nights, banquets, movie nights etc).

Sightseeing programs

GCE's program includes regular weekend tours of Beijing's major historical and cultural sites, including the Great Wall, Tiananmen Square and the Summer Palace, to name but a few. Students can gain a deep understanding of Chinese culture through these fascinating, free trips. Optional trips further a-field are available for an additional fee.

Combined Chinese Medicine - Language Course

This program suits students who wish to learn both Chinese medicine and the Chinese language. The language course helps students develop their listening, reading, writing, grammar and pronunciation skills, and, of course, their ability to converse in the language. The 45-min classes are held by qualified, experienced teachers from the Institute.

Accommodation

GCE offers students excellent accommodation options, both on- and off-campus. Students can choose from staying with a host family, in a student residence, on-campus, in an apartment or in a three-star hotel room.

VISAS

Students should apply for an F-class visa issued by their local Chinese embassy/consulate. F-class visas are typically issued for one, three or six months, depending on the duration of the course. Visa extensions can be organized where necessary. Some embassies will issue an L-class visa for entry into China. This can then be converted to F-class upon arrival, once enrollment is completed and program fees are paid.

Start Dates

Below is a list of Start Dates, Application Deadlines and Enrollment Deadlines for Wushu courses. The Application Deadline refers to the final date for submission of application payment and payment of application fee. The Enrollment Deadline refers to the final date for confirmation of placement and payment of course fees. GCE provides you with the necessary documents to obtain your visa immediately upon enrollment. Please allow two weeks for your visa to be processed.

Short-Term Courses

Short-term courses last from one to 12 weeks, beginning the first Monday of every month.

Long-Term Courses

Certificate

Students will be awarded an official certificate from the school where he studies upon completion of their particular course.

Eligibility
