GCE's one-of-a-kind Chinese Language and Internship Program offers students the chance to combine language learning with hands-on work experience in a company in Beijing. The course is designed for graduate students and/or professionals interested in improving their Chinese and gaining work experience in the country. The Internship Program can also be combined with GCE's Chinese language and business course. Prospective participants must have at least an elementary level of Chinese to participate.
Objectives
Participants receive hands-on work experience in a company in Beijing, and are immersed in a professional language environment. We offer a variety of placements depending on the participant's language proficiency, professional background, availability and preference. The language component complements the internship experience, immersing participants in Chinese through class time, special tutoring, language exchanges and optional extracurricular activities.

The Internship program consists of two components:
Language Component
- Complete immersion in the Chinese language

Chinese Language Component
This component is devoted to language and consists of four aspects: 1) class time, 2) special tutorials, 3) language exchanges, and 4) optional extracurricular activities. Our training methods are designed so that less advanced students can pick up the language skills in a short period of time, and so that advanced students will also find an appropriate challenges that will enable them to reach fluency. Internship Component
Students and professionals participating in the Internship component will gain invaluable knowledge and experience in working in China. Participants will receive pre-internship training and help with the language needed to carry out various office tasks. They will emerge from the internship with a better understanding of business practices in China.
1) Pre-Internship Training
An expert in Chinese business culture will conduct a series of workshops that equip participants with the basic knowledge they'll need to get the most out of their internship.
2) Internship
Participants spend at least 25 hours a week in a local or international company in Beijing. They may be placed with more than one company during the internship. Fields available include: Banking and Finance, Business Development, Education, IT, Marketing and Advertising, Non-Profit Organizations, Retail, and Travel and Tourism. Placements depend on language proficiency, professional background, availability and preference after assessment by out Admissions Department. Individual companies reserve the right to conduct their own interview before a final placement. Participants are required to complete continuous evaluation forms. At the end of the internship students will receive a letter of reference.
3) Stipend
This unpaid internship may include a stipend paid by the company for travel or lunch purposes during the internship period.
